Welcome!

Welcome back, I should say.  After several months of being hacked Brian Ray  helped get this site back up and running.  Thanks Brian, enjoy the Scotch.  I’ve been busy this year.  I’ve been practicing, writing, and playing as much as I can.  I bought a banjo in Canada back in August, too.  That’ll be an interesting story as I work my way towards proficiency.  I suppose the biggest news is that I’ve started a duet with recent transplant to Minnesota Jim Korioth, late of the Tiny Tin Hearts in Austin, Texas.  The video above is from our last practice and though it’s a bit rough (first time Jim ever heard it, for one thing), you get a sense of how fascinating this project will be.

Name The Band

Jim and I have been playing a few months now and we begin to have a sense of what our set list will look like.  So far we’ve been focusing on my repertoire:  old fiddle tunes, string band blues, my originals.  That will change over time but our biggest issue now is that we need a name!  Try as we might, nothing we’ve come up with seems right.  So maybe you have a suggestion.  Drop me a line at whistlepigmando AT gmail DOT com.  I’ll have a Jim and Fred page up shortly with a new blog entry or two and maybe some extra media.  So stay tuned.  Round two begins now.
